The narration of the documentary is unique as it tells the story from the plane’s perspective. The director’s choice for an older woman’s voice refers to the fact that the Dakota was mostly built by woman operating the assembly lines. World War 2 was a total war, which required governments to utilize their entire populations for the purpose of defeating their enemies. Millions of women were encouraged to work in the industry and take over jobs previously done by men who were now fighting the war.
